2022 BRUIN REUNION
SEABRIGHT, Santa Cruz
(near Capitola)
Tues Oct. 4 to Sun. Oct. 9
Well folks, we’re at it again! Go Bruins! this time at beautiful Seabright, Santa Cruz.
Mother Ship: 218 Cypress Avenue, Seabright
Rainman, Toe, Bro, et. al., etc…. 🙂
Mark and Antoinette: 323 Riverview Ave., Capitola
Bra with son Drew and GF Katie: 542 5th Street in Santa Cruz
OHO: Slumming it in some nearby flop house.
Mark O and Trish: In the best hotel that’s nearby.
Basecamp is decided – 218 cypress avenue, Santa Cruz (area is Seabright) Chuck and Bob Routt are in as residents. Another person or couple are still welcomed; please let me know if interested Evenings.
Tuesday is opening day at basecamp, so for those that have arrived (TBD), dinner (TBD) will be planned for
Wednesday – I suspect most of you will have arrived by Wednesday, so count on “welcome night” at basecamp. I’d like to own dinner this night with some help. I have some ideas to share later.
Thursday – Dinner on the town. I understand that going out for dinner may be a tad radical concept, contrary to tradition and or desires for some of you. But before putting this up for a ‘vote’, I’m going to define this in greater detail (focusing on the what, where and how). One thing you can rest assured: dinner will be early and post dinner/dessert at basecamp is assumed.
Friday – The traditional Scott Gee Fish Dinner-Palooza.
Saturday – Leftovers and or if someone has a chef-jones they want to actualize, the floor is yours.
More deciding is needed on the dinners (from entrees, to side dishes, to roles including clean up). The main thing is to understand the approach above, start to solidify high level details, and expect low level details to come together gradually.
Activities
Many of you have things in mind that you want to do with others in the area. So this is a good time to start figuring out the more likely activities, such as:
Wine Tasting – It’s assumed (in my head anyway) that Mr. Leos is taking the reins here. Let us know Mark.
Golf – Reid, Tak, Jimmy Thing, MarkO, OHO, Toe …anything going on and if so who is leading the charge? (see Golf links on right Sidebar)
Hiking is rich in this area, from shoreline to redwoods….I think several of us would be down for a good hike or hikes. I can figure this out or would be happy to have someone else take it
Road trip – for many of you who are coming from afar there is reason to want to explore. A short car ride (less than an hour) to the north (Half Moon bay) or south (Monterrey, Carmel) is fun. One of us locals can fill in the details here but I’d be interested to hear about what you’re interested in checking out.
Beer tasting – many breweries to choose from near and a few miles away in Watsonville.
Bullshitting – Bullshitting is very popular here in Seabright and many people actively enjoy this wonderful pass time. If, in fact, any one has read this up to here, I would be more than happy to meet you at the nearest bar, buy you a cocktail, and we can bullshit till the wee hours. OHO
Attend local festival
Other?
My ask (Chris Raines):
Any other basecamp residents please speak up Tuesday and Saturday dinners are open; if the inner chef wants out, raise your hand Activities: Voice interest in activities you want to partake in Volunteer to lead one Identify other activities for consideration All the above Headcount: For those of you who haven’t fully decided, please let me know where you stand. I’d be happy with a % probability.
Lastly – if you can’t tell, my approach is to offer everyone the opportunity to step up to lead, actively participate, and or influence as much as they please. There is no need for me to dictate at this stag. Of course that will change as we get closer to the Oct. 4 regarding open items that impact us all.
Thanks, Chris
